Hoping to get your input... One of my rescues is - hopefully - at the tailend of detox. I pulled him out of the shelter in Feb 2012 and he was a hot mess (it would have been more humane for the shelter to put him down than to let him sit there as rescue only. Of course no one else stepped up...).

I had a dog with ear problems and I can tell you that probably a mix of CS, alcohol and peroxide is something you might want to research.  The alcohol will help dry the ear and the CS and peroxide will help clean and disinfect.  I didn't know about CS at that time so I just used the alcohol and
