Guineas are more independent and survive better running loose.
Chickens will eat bugs too.

Guinea Hens thrive on ticks. They will pick clean an area in a few weeks if
you have enough of them.. They are good watch animals and will create a
racket if strangers approach your property. They lay eggs. Just turn them
loose and teach the dogs to protect them..

dogs are picking them up every time I let them out so of course they are in my
house.
Getting routine to pick ticks off myself and kids! The steroid fleas have not
started yet- give em a couple more weeks.
