Do you mean the white powdered extract? I have not tried that as a
fungicide - but I hav
wouldn't expect the extract to work as well as the whole leaf
solution; one of the characteristics of the leaf is its fungicidal ability.

Dear Harsha,
It grows fairly easily from seed, but one good frost in winter and it is
incipient black compost...
I find it easier to buy the leaf dried and precut.

Any experience using H2O2 or chlorine on evergreen trees or fruit trees for
fungus? I found the second year spraying of my trees did not seem to get rid
of the fungus problem. I had a cherry tree where 3 limbs died, only a couple
limbs left. Cs sprayed twice a week turned it into one of my be
For controlling fungus, I would bet on Dr. Teruo Higa's essential
microorganisms. I believe fungi require a certain kind of environment
to thrive, and give up when the enviroment is not suitable. EM
creates this kind of healthy environment.

Dear Damian,
I have also tested CS as a fungicide in our nursery and found that I got
better results from Stevia leaf than CS.
Put 2-3 Teaspoons stevia in a litttre of water and let it soak overnight.
Straain and store on a glass bottle. This solution will keep without
refirigeration for months.
I remember ages back that the DW I was purchasing, had algae growing in it.
It even grew in the CS! Maybe what Brooks says applies to this fungus. CS
certainly didn't kill it!

I have found CS to be very effective against algae in our cat's water bowl. It
can be green and shortly after adding some CS it will be crystal clear.
As for fungus I have only seen it used against foot fungus i.e. athletes foot,
jock itch, mildew, and black spot on roses. In all 4 cases the impr
Dear Damian,
I have observed, with interest, several postings on the
list.that Colloidal Silver is an excellent fungicide. This has not been
our experience. Several years ago we conducted some efficacy tests for CS
against 10 specimens of "garden-variety" type

Ah, that explains it then. Fungus grows roots into the gelatine, and CS does
not have mobility in solids, so it never reached the roots. Once it plated out
on the surface there was nothing to stop th

Yeah it was a bit like that. I simply used gelatine with sugar for the
medium. I had acutally planed on doing the experiments some time ago, and
forgot that i had set the dish's aside for growth. A month or two passing i
remembered and decided to put it to the test. I guess i'll try again. I

Damian,
Sounds like you were trying to mow a lawn with a pair of scissors.
What medium did you grow the bugs in, was it liquid?
A better experiment would be to repeat what you did, but add the CS
and H2O2 etc immediately after the swab, and have a control which gets
nothing but distilled water.
