[Sip-implementors] authentication-info header

2016-02-16 Thread Jing Jiang
Recently, we saw a case that a server (Asterisk) sent our client an authentication-info header in its "bye" message, but our SIP device is just a client and never challenges the server. Our client doesn't expect this header so the "bye" request was declined. What is the right behavior for the

[Sip-implementors] TLS in IPv6

2014-07-15 Thread Jing Jiang
IPv6 includes IPSEC feature which provides transport layer security. In SIP implementation in IPv4, we need to implement TLS for TCP and DTLS for UDP to provide communication security. We also need to implement SRTP to protect media. For SIP or RTP in IPv6, should we just rely on IPSEC

[Sip-implementors] call progress response 180 or 183

2013-10-22 Thread Jing Jiang
We ran into the issue a few times. We sent out invite message to a PSTN number. However, we didn't receive 180 or 183, but 200 ok. We know the media gateway would like to start the media immediately for transmitting call progress tone. Is it a valid call sequence? Thanks, Jing

[Sip-implementors] out of sequence number

2013-05-29 Thread Jing Jiang
When a SIP endpoint reboots, it will come to use the same initial sequence number to register with the proxy again. The proxy will complain it with out of sequence error. After timeout, the proxy will start to accept this registration again. How should I resolve this? Thanks, Jing

[Sip-implementors] how to respond to a SDP offer including unsuported media type

2013-04-15 Thread Jing Jiang
An endpoint receives an invite including audio and video offer, but the endpoint has no video capability. How does the endpoint respond this offer? It seems to me there is a RFC to talk about it, but I just could find it. RFC 6337 talks about behavior on receiving SDP with c=0.0.0.0. Is it the
