The WebDAV protocol is an extension HTTP, and thus requires a webserver (ie
its a web based protocol). Slide is implemented as a Java Servlet, so it is
likely it could be used in another servlet container, not just Tomcat, but
so far I have only had it running in Tomcat, so your mileage
