As far as I can tell this doesn't run by itself.
What do I do with it?
Try this:
man DBI
and if you don't have DBI, download and install it from CPAN.
It'll provide you with foolproof database access.

Of course, what wasn't mentioned is that DBI doesn't include any database

So you'll want to do a 'install DBD::mysql' in the CPAN shell as well if you

This is exactly what I need to do.
I need to upgrade the old auth mechanism at work, because it's

Hi all,
NIS is "nice" ie super easy to set up and use but really sadly broken in
that any user can see what's in /etc/shadow.
The only reason why you would want to use it is if you have to support some
NIS-only clients like IRIX O2s AND you never have internet connections from
the LAN.

It means that during protocol negotiation the BigPond server attempted
to talk to your machine using Cisco Discovery Protocol Control. You
could try putting stuff like 'noipx' 'noip' in /etc/ppp/options
I was told not to worry too much about it because it's supposed to be a
cisco thing
can anyone verify this for me?
also has anyone successfully got RH6.2 dialing up to big pond?
I keep getting could not get local ip address.
Thanks

I'm not sure I quite get the question. You can get USB devices that use a
SCSI like protocol over the USB cable.
I have one. It's a USB SanDisk Compact Flash reader.
How do I see what my modem reports during the ppp connection sequence?
It doesn't seem to appear in the /var/log/messages file.

You need to tell pppd to be verbose
echo "debug" /etc/ppp/options
or add debug to the pppd command line

Basically you have to tell the system to log stuff. It is in the
