56k..download didn't come under 4.1k/s
Having just 1 full source tree for a kernel and then using patches each time to
get that source upgraded is quick n easy if you don't want to download the full
tar source for each release.

I have at this moment 2 boxes on the net via a server/gateway, (3rd box)
before I came on line I tried to ping from one box to the other.
works fine, one way only. they identify each other ,by name and ip,
everything looks the same in the printout, but no losses one way, 100%
the other.

no it's not (just checked), relying on the server firewall to keep

they are explicitly allowed to talk in /etc/hosts.allow as well.

Is it possible to make a new partition mount directly under '/' in rh7.3 ?
It is recognised during boot, proclaimed clean, then a few lines later I

Sme server has been up and running for several weeks, seems to work
fine; even blocks most of the pron emails in standard trim. Setup was as
simple as Jeff suggested . The laptop went straight onto the web, over
the network without any alteration, (w95, netscape) but the other boxes

I can't see any mention of Module section keyword in the printout of

I've just run xf86config again, everything is set much as it is for RH
(and windoze) on the same box

I was installing. last thing before this it set VGA16 as default.
when it does manage to start x it locks the system up, the only way out
is to cut the power.

As an old newbie I have spent days (and nights) reading about iptables,
masquades, trinityOS, how-to's etc.
Question is, have I missed something in all this; do I need a modem
that will run from an ethernet card in order to set up a seperator
between my home/office network and the internet, or

Go to list of monitors, select generic, lcd panel . there are various
resolutions listed. Mine can display 1200 x 1600 in windows, but redhat
7.1 seems not to like it at anything above 768 x 1024 as a definition.
I then run 640 x 800. you can test each resolution to see what works for
you as you
