well... for one file, sed "s/^M$//" infile > outfile, press CTRL-V CTRL-M
to get the ^M
Not sure about a stack of files.
find . -name \* -exec sed "s/^M$//" {

is about the time it took
from the mysql command line before I created the index.
So it seems that the perl program isn't using the index.
Anyone got any ideas?

Perl definitely.
It basically kicks arse for all those things. Especially Data manipulation
(m regular expressions), and it's easy to learn the basics, and there
is lots more to learn as well.

Where the hell is this font?!?!?!
the NetStation works very similar to the linux box, it's a netbsd thing and
the directory structure is the same for the part I'm interested in.

I haven't done this before, but
http://search.cpan.org/search?mode=module&query=mime shows lots of modules
that will do it.

For full distro network install, but see question number 1.

I second this, nmap has been invaluable for me working out what IP's are
still free.
just get everyone to turn on every PC, then ./nmap -sP 10.10.10.0-255
just does a ping scan, tells u what machines are up, doesn't query for OS
type or anything else.

but I think it's gonna work start through the login manager as well.
Thanks :)

Any ideas what's still broken?
I think I have to tell the kdm what type of session I'm after, something
about a file called .Xsession rings a bell, but I don't seem to have one of
them.
Brock Henry
PS: when kdm runs the screen does refresh better,
is a problem, the fix is usually always the same and straightforward,
namely reboot the Terminal Adapter.
Also we use an APC masterswitch which is a kewl device for remotely
(telnet, http, etc) rebooting comms equipment in case anyone was wondering :)

Sounds like you have to tell the modem to answer, not linux.
Have as part of the modem initialization string ATS0=1 which means pick up
after 1 ring.
it's a shame when even the teacher can't work it out.

Our internet router won't route any of the 10.10.n.n packets.
Any flaws in my plan?
