I have a mouse and tablet connected in parallel to my mac. I rarely use
the tablet as a substitute for the mouse. The tablet is excellent for what
it was intended - it double clicks, is pressure sensitive.. all sorts of
good stuff. The advantage of the mouse is that it stays where you leave
it.

There are amchines which do the job much easier, Rodos. You can buy them
in Fyshwyck.

Some Wacom tablets are supported with X server modules, you'd have
to check.

Hell no - you're not nuts!
It's kinda like a trackball; it takes a bit to get used to, and everyone
will give you grief over it. "You u

I was thinking over the weekend of getting one of these. My main reason is
that I am getting sore wrists and was wondering if a tablet and pen would

I use photoshop, so i've only played with GIMP for interest. It seems
pretty good to me, and after some initial confusion I have no problem with
the interface. (I'm easily confused).
Does anyone know if its possible to make Wacom tablets work with it? My

Having used the GIMP for about 5 days I must say that I am truly impressed
with it.
I spent a bit of time altering some existing pictures, and read the tool
tips.
The GUI is not really a problem, however I have had lots of experience with
CAD packages for Printed Circuit Board design, so I didn't
That doesnt mean that the Gimp interface is bad or anything.
A common question with Photoshop users is how to draw a circle, this
isn't
a vector based drawing program, no "circle" tools here. Someone who does
indeed
know their Photoshop could tell you that the steps are to stroke a
circle select

Dude, when a Linux user of any sort of experience can't work out how to
draw a circle, it must be the interface's fault.

Alot of 'doze graphics editors decided that they should consume your

I don't understand what is so bad about the GIMP interface, or what
makes it a hackers interface. Personally, I find the GIMP intuitive and
fast, it probably could be better but what couldn't? I use Photoshop a
lot on our DTP machine (has a scanner - my laptop doesnt) and I feel
like I have a hand
