Now this is interesting
I've had exactle the same problem with Applixware - the
only fix (apart from a reboot) is to kill the x-server
and re-start it.
Doesn't happen all that often
Ya, I have found this. If you leave it open it will behave itself, but I
have taken to closing it as it keeps trying to delete some IMAP files that
don't exist anyway and the error warnings keep pissing me off, so I close
it, but this is when the problem seems to arise.
I guess I will just have
I know this probably isn't helpful, but this does not happen on my
machine. I use StarOffice pretty roughly (15~ spreadsheets open at a
time), and open and close it numerous times over a day. It crashes maybe
once every 2 weeks, but has never had a problem killing itself cleanly on
exits/crashe
I have found when this happens its generally because of zombie soffice processes.
Do a ps ax |grep staroffice (or even just a ps ax) to see
if there are then killall -9 staroffice
Hope this helps

Anything in ~/.xsession-errors? The usual logs? A special log just for th
Check if their is a soffice process (eg ps ax | grep so) when this
occurs. It *could* be checking to see if its already running, then,
seeing that it is (in a sense) is quits.
*shrug* try openoffice

Does anyone have problems with StarOffice failing to start.
I find occasionally that it just refuses to fire up, whether from an icon
or from a command line, and fails to give any indication as to why it's
not starting.
I certainly don't have a problem with RAM (128MB) or swap space (256MB),
so
