Hi Sam
Followed your instructions and set to QT Player> Change All. I now have the
clip
playing in the preview section of the file info window but I can't progress to
getting the video to show in QT. If I open QT and do File>Open File>
(clip).flv>Open I'm told again this is not a movie file.
Hi Richard
You can also use VLC to play the .flv file : www.videolan.org

I've installed Perian and now in the Finder window if I click on the .flv file
it will play in the preview column but if I drag the 'flv to QT I'm told 'this

Open With>Perian - Open in QT Player.

Thanks Toby, I'll give that a whirl.

first install the plugin from perian.org, then try dragging and dropping the
.flv file onto quicktime player and hopefully it will then play in quicktime
player.

more friendly video format like .mov if necessary

Hi,
My wife has to do a presentation which incorporates showing a video clip
downloaded form an educational website. The clip downloads as a 57MB .flv file,
however when she clicks on it to play it, a blank white window appears entitled

There are versions of the elgato stick that have their own aerials (not great),
and for cable, as well as for freeview and a normal aerial.
They are a great buy. Be prepared to add a hard disc for saving programs you
want to keep, and also to pay for the tv listings after the first year (if I

My son has a MacMini plugged into a TV/Monitor - sounds like just what you were
asking for. The TV has a freeview tuner - he uses the TV remote to swop from TV
to Mac input.

I use a USB stick from www.elgato.com and it runs software called Eye TV.
Provided you have a aerial/cable into the room, it should work fine.

Hi Adam
You can get an Elgato USB Freeview stick, then connect that to a wall antenna
if there's on in their room. EyeTV works very well on the Mac for viewing &
recording Freeview.

I have three teenage girls that need a new mac for their bedroom for
homework and the like. My question is whether or not there's a simple
way that this mac could also replace the TV in their room?
Thanks in advance

Thank you Paul. I can only assume that I must have been running Xcode at or
shortly after the update and clicked the "use for Development" option without
realising that it had anything to do with the gestures. Anyway, they are now
back :-)

I don't have an iPad but it looks like the extra gestures have been
restricted to developers at present. However, you can enable them by
following the instructions at:
http://www.appletell.com/apple/comment/how-to-enable-multitouch-gestures-in-ios-4.3-on-ipad/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed
Well, my iPad has now been restored about 4 times in the last few days and the
only time I had the gestures was the very first time I upgraded from 4.2.1 to
4.3. Since the subsequent installs, they have vanished!
Hopefully they will return at some point. My whole iPad seems incredibly

I doubt anyone's hacking in, just change your password to be sure.
A new top case replacement is a fairly trivial task, find an Apple store and
see if they have one in stock.
