One thing that I read about awhile back was an electronics board, or maybe it
was an add-on of a comp. radio. At any rate what it did to slow the plane
down was to activate and completely offset all control surfaces at once by
flipping one switch. (with control for landing in mind)

OK here is my 2 cents on this.
Winches are fine. Winches are good. F3b rules have already set reasonable
limits on winches in order to even the field there. I think it has worked
great.

One thing you can try is to "crab" the plane by moving
the rudder one direction and moving the ailerons the
opposite direction. The plane will still be going
forward in a straight line but the fuse will be
slightly sideways, creating drag and slowing it down.
