There was a guy in Phx. that was in to the high end rocket gliders, he was going to put one of the aerotec reloadable motors in a 6oz. version of my 36" delta wing. His motor would put his 7oz. plane to over 1000 ft. The motor can be configured with different nozzles and amounts of fuel. He had it

Paul, A group of us here in southern Maryland are doing the very same thing. We are using a rather tired looking combat foamie, a Studio B Foaminator, loaded with some serious rocket propulsion. I don't know if this has ever been done before, probably has, but we are having a blast. Flight testing

Hi Tom.  Thanks for the comments.  We at the ECHLC, like the IHLGF, have made the conscious decision not to totally re-make the contest based upon what may happen, but rather to learn from 2001 and grow into the future.  2001 is going to have to be a test bed for us all (especially experienc

[RCSE] CO2 Canisters and HLG?

2001-04-18 Thread Paul Klissner
I haven't done HLG, but I'm guessing the point is that you want to be able to sky out nice compact gliders in potentially small open areas with minimal equipment. Seems to me the join-wrecking Olympic sportsmanship stuff is secondary to the main goal. But I'm sure some people really enjoy that p

The biggest thing I see that will give the Discus guys the advantage is that all the flights are limited in duration.  There is not one event that takes total time of three longest flights no limit on duration.  The discus guys can get their times in many cases just from the launch. Tom Steve Pa

Well, I was trying. But when I re-read it, it seemed a little mean-spirited to be funny with that last-email I sent about Gordy. So what I should really say is, sure, I've found Gordy annoying at times, and at times I've disagreed with him strongly. But overall, Gordy has been extremely helpful
