Dennis,
Let's see I just repaired a Duo Discus for Doug Barry, working on two
SBXCs (totally smashed one of them from a wing failure on launch, but you
would hardly know it. I may have to post before and after pix on that one)
and an Xtreme for myself. Still like my Stork... Yea Storks!!!
I am finishing a plug for a sailplane and have it so I will be spliting it
in half when completed. Should I use it as is to make a glass fuse or make
as the guys in my club suggest using it to make a reuseable mold out of
plaster of paris by using my plug, pushing it down into the plaster then
Pull back 50 paces to start and see how the wing looks as it goes up. if
you don't see a
lot of flex, then you're ok. add a few more steps until you see a lot of
flex or the wing breaks, stop there. :-)
Reminds me of the old story for rubber powered planes. Wind until the
rubber breaks, then

Most pilots overlook this, but there is an effective way to enhance
energy transfer and fidility on installations where the servo is glued
to the (inner) upper surface of a molded wing. Glue a balsa spacer to
the inside surface of the cover that is thick enough to contact the
surface of the

Thanks to Barry B for a couple of pages from some manual that details the

If the construction of the Millenium uses a Rhoacell core like my Emerald does (which
I suspect), then repairs are a little tough.
When I crunched a bit of the LE trying to land through my shin (skegs don't work on
ice BTW), I carefully pieced the core foam
together with foam safe CA,
Chris,
Forget the plaster mold stuff. Don't even go there. If you are going to
put the effort in do a fiberlagss mold. If you are looking at cost, do it
in polyester, if you want alot of fuses do it in epoxy. But the plaster
stuff is to much work, to fragile, hard to lay up and alot more.

Would any of the former owners of the Sagitta 600 give me
there opinion of this sailplane? I would be interested in its
flying characteristics such as penetration, speed, thermal
characteristics, when built as a polyhedral, (RES ) no
ailerons. Flying weight if known?

I am sending out a generic letter to anyone who's e-mail address I have.
Several of you are on the mainland but since I'm writing about something
that won't happen for a couple of months, I thought I'd just forward it
along anyway.

This is my first try at recovering a wing. While removing the old monokote I
did discover two compression fractures on the top spar. Located at the first
open rib past the center sheeted area (see pictures url below). What is the
best way to fix this?
Also while removing the old
