We had 12 pilots in open show up for the contest and 2 RES.
We flew 4 rounds of 3 heats with 4 pilots per heat. After the round the 2
RES guys flew man on man so they also got 4 rounds in.
We had 5 winches on the field (Thanks guys!)
I used a free F3J scoring program that could automatically set
It starts with a great shot of Greg (Slopeflyer.com) and his tiny sun flying on Lake Michigan.
Then Jerry Slates has some really nice coverage of the Los Banos Scale Fly-in, some very cool shots of scale planes flown at the event.
'On the Wing' (Tail Less sailplanes only!) has an excellent
Julian Tamez, flying a Super V, won the Open class and
Don Cleveland, flying a Searcher 100, won the RES
class. There was some nice lift and very light winds.
It made for a super day. No mishaps and smiles all
around...and win or lose...that's what we really went
for! If you missed it...you

I would like to offer a big thank you and Congrats to Craig Greening and
Bruce Davidson, Team Polecat pilots for a great finish, 2nd and 9th at the
IHLGF to go with the 1st and 4th place finishes at the East Coast Handlaunch
Classic in May. I'm very proud of these guys
Don't fly very fast, or it will be a recipe for flutter, which can
destroy airplanes very quickly. Make the control linkage as rigid as you
can. OTOH, don't fly very slowly, as wingeron airplanes can experience
severe adverse yaw, and I'd expect twisted wings to do the same, tho of
course using a
It always seems that the list takes the weekend off...is this the way it is?

I'm going to make a fuselage part plug - it isn't a whole fuselage, just
a round-to-flat conical transition part that will be glued into the
round part of a finished fuselage in the nose cone region. This will
probably be a male mold; I don't think making a male master followed by
a female mold
Having decompressed after a great weekend here's a few of my

going back to work to bring you back to earth.
Firstly congrats to Joe for the win, I think that makes five
straight and seven overall. To watch Joe fly hand launch is

Sorry to waste band width, but most of us glider guys are pretty handy with computers, except me...
I just dropped my laptop in the parking lot at work, I think it's dead.
So does anyone have a used one for sale, or a specific recommendation on where to get a very inexpensive used one on the net
