I haven't found it to be a big problem so I haven't developed a solution. Use a lock washer and keep it really tight. You could experiment with various lock washers, split washers or combinations. I've just made checking the towhook part of my pre-flight routine. Occasionally, one will have

My experience with lacquer paints is that they look nice, but aren't very durable. One simple solution that a lot of pilots use is to pre-tape the joints. That is, after the paint has cured, apply a layer of tape (I use clear, I bought from PWT at Visalia) on each side of the joint (you can put
