Well, IGES is a bit more like the DXF of polygons IMO ;-) It's pretty
stupid although it can work well.
I usually ask for the files in Step, Sat and IGES (as fallback) and try
what works best - the first two contain more useful information while IGES
usually doesn't preserve naming etc. but that di
Yeah, since 601 you can write shaders (I did a test and it's easy enough).

they sold it to other companies (I think it's the renderer in the Bentley

Then you feed that (uneducated?) perception back to them.

Today is the last day I would be able to back-subscribe to Softimage.
With all the latest developments, I'm more happy each day to leave this
mess behind.
With Stephen gone, how would I ever be able to find my serial ;-)

So is this the same guy who invented that weird "pay for working for us"

It was interesting to hear from my reseller lately that the prices of
subscription are basically back to where they were before the price
increase in germany.
The 100.- Euro late-re-subscription-fee seems to be off at the moment as
well.
Next thing we know will be Softimage in the Apple App Store

yeah, got some funny emails as well.
It seems that in the future you can update up to 6 or 7 versions back, but
have to pay 70% of the full original price (which funny enough was
increased quite considerably for XSI not that long ago).

What's up with all this?
I got a mail that my membership to the Softimage mailinglist is suspended

Have a look at modo 601.
Depending on what you do, it might be a nice alternative (it is for me, I'm
no longer on subscription as well - partly because of the price increase).
You can import ICE particles via realflow .bin and alembic is built in
(didn't test that one really though).
