Please may I ask for advice regarding upgrading the SOLR version (our project
currently running on solr-5.2.1) to the latest version?
What are the steps, breaking changes and potential issues ? Could this be done
as an incremental version upgrade or a direct jump to the newest

I really do not see a reason why a master/slave terminology is a problem.

It's unlikely to be a synchronization issue because
serialization/deserialization usually happens in single thread.

Hi,
I am not sure if Basic Authentication is possible in SOLR standalone
configuration (version 7.6). I have a working SOLR installation using SSL.
When following the docs I add options into solr.in.cmd, as in:

I would really like to see the second case behave more like the first. If I
add a node to the cluster, it is automatically used as a replica for existing
clusters without my having to do so. This would really simplify things.
