Also the -c option on pppoa3 will cause it to shut down any copies of
pppoa running from the last connection that pppd didn't clean up (you'll
need to check CVS for the latest code)

My ISP (Jet2Web in Austria) generates a time-out after 8 hours. After this
time you have to reconnect once again. But the pppoa3 - driver doesn't
recognize the fact and locks up the whole system. I have the same effect if I
start pppd with the inappropiate access-rights (non-root).
