Try "cat /var/log/messages > syslog.txt" and send the relevant parts -
stuff related to modem_run, pppoa3, pppd at the end of the syslog.txt -
to the list.

Try using mgmt.o downloaded from the Alcatel website instead of the
windows file. This caused loads of CRC errors for me.

Here you go.
T: Bus=02 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2
B: Alloc= 0/900 us ( 0%), #Int= 0, #Iso= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor= ProdID= Rev= 0.00
S: Product=USB UHCI Root Hub
S: SerialNumber=c800
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1
I had this problem when I used the .sys file included with the Windows
driver package instead of mgmt.o from the linux driver package. Which
are you using?

Frans

You EITHER do ppp over atm (PPPoA) or ppp over Ethernet (PPPoE). Yes it
does matter which you use because this is how the modem communicates
with the peer on the other side. PPPoA encapsulates the PPP frames
within ATM frames while PPPoE encapsulates the PPP frames in Ethernet
frames.

Yes. You need the -e 1 switch.
