But connection with ppp don't run.

I am trying to use the speedtouch drivers 1.2Beta with my Debian woody (it's a fresh
install of the release 1). My box is a P4 and my provider use pppoe. My modem is an
Alcatel Speedtouch USB.
At the moment my modem is hanging up after a "..no such device" error.

I have RedHat8 (Kernel 2.4.18-14) installed, and installed the RPM for
Speedtouch (speedtouch-1.1-1.i586.rpm).
The modem_run command seems to work fine (see also message.log below), but

This time, an update as pppoa3 is somewhat more verbose in the logs than the
old pppoa2. By the way, the problem appears with pppoa2, pppoa2m (aka new
pppoa2) and pppoa3.

après quelques heures de connexion (durée apparemment non fixe), le
modem se déconnecte et il n'arrive plus à se relancer, que ce soit
automatiquement avec le hdlc ou manuellement en tuant le pppd et en le
relançant. La seule solution pour le faire refonctionner semble être
d'éteindre
C'est tout nouveau, ça vient de sortir, je n'avais pas le problème
avant, et oh surprise, je suis incapable de dire ce que j'ai changé qui
crée ce problème : des déconnexions toutes les minutes au moins ...
Ma config : kernel 2.4.7 vanilla + patch n_hdlc, pppd 2.4.1, pppoa2 1.9,

comme beaucoup j'utilise le driver BP. Cela évite de compiler l'univers
entier comme conseillé par l'installation officielle Alcatel.
