Alternative (what I did for my PhD thesis): use restructured text for as
long as possible and, near the end, generate the latex stuff and
continue working and tweaking with that.

S.txt, TODO.txt and so on.
But they're in the parent directory of my index.txt.
What are my options? Just putting ../README in a toctree doesn't seem
to work.
