While in the Army in Germany I was a tty op. I also hears what we called
acoustical canut. Someone would leave a mic open and we heard lots of stuff
some funny and some xrated

I'm not dismissing your point at all: I just found it interesting that HM01's
op (Pedro, Doña Havana, Sr. Compiúter) happened by an open mic some 24 hrs.

Lol old ATT long lines to transmitters would have been my guess. It didn't

Yeah the Oki and an ATT phone were essentially the same. I somewhere had a
list of all the debug codes for all the phones that could go beyond the usual.
