I understand you and feel with you.
As mentioned before, I had never any issues installing and/or upgrading
LMS on my QNAP. But I committed all those changes @'Man in a van' listed
to my system.
Maybe you'll give them a try, as soon as you aren't tired anymore. I'd
be glad to help you with it. :)
Total f-up.
Reinstalled 7.7.2 and tried to install 7.9.0 instead.
Aborted due to previous errors. Tried freshly dnloaded 7.9.1 again. Same
error
And 7.7.2 corrupt again. Need to reinstall it again.
Crap.

Forgive the parts that are already familiar to you in this endeavour,
but this is how I used to do it on a Qnap TS121.
A quick précis:
I assume that you have the correct v7.2.2 already installed on the Qnap.
My suggestion is to do some basic configuration and play back, say Radio

If you just want a regular i386 for debian stretch, you could use the
deb files 'Wikilink'

Which variant is it? The Linux or smth else? I have a Linux-Power PC
installaiton file too
Do I need to reinstall 7.7.2 again or can I continue from where I am
now?

Seems that the tgz indeed was incomplete or the extraction was
interrupted by something different. I can't say.
But you should indeed try it again with a new downloaded file from
slimdevices.

The aborted installation also removed the 7.7.2 LMS and the NAS fell
back to 7.9.0 in the container so I can at least play web radio and
Tidal. :)

Probably your QNAP ran out of flash memory since /tmp lies there. And if
your QNAP doesn't use HDA_DATA but CACHEDEV1_DATA as mountpoint for your
HDD, /share/HDA_DATA lies in flash, too.
With the symbolic link you avoid filing up the flash. But the move
command won't run through, either.

buildme.sh would have been the one then.
That should be fine. You might want to give us some more information.
Like LMS version (did I ask before?...), full output of the build script
etc.

WinSCP works fine, I could transfer 67 MB to /tmp and then error 4, 16

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the code you wrote.

I don't know what you always do.
I did this quite often a while ago and as long as my QNAP hosted my
LMS.
If WinSCP doesn't work for you or with you ;) take putty in SSH mode
(not this psftp) and enter the following:
Code:
cd /share
ln -s CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public HDA_DAT

Isn't there any other file manager to use then this archaic program?
With a modern interface I could have tested all the options in a couple
of seconds.
The prompt doesn't even say where I am in the catalogue structure...
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public is the same Public folder I see in Windows.

As you downloaded it already in some Folder called "Public", you only
have to find the tug and move it in the right place. (I'd try
/share/HDA_DATA/Public )
Then see if SSOTS finds it under Step 2: c).

I don't know the scanner but Kipeta posted a patch a few posts earlier
but I suspect it may be overriding wavepack rather than creating a new
compressed DSD format.

Why is it a bad way - defining a new audio type without changing LMS
code is the right way.
You should no change convert.conf anf types .conf but add your own rules
to custom-con
Remote working directory is /root
psftp> ls -l /share
Listing directory /root/-l
Unable to open -l: no such file or directory

Okay this is really a bad way to do it, but I'm playing my compressed
DFF,DSF files in LMS now.
I'm on a linux version , so this is what I did..
As I never shall use wavpack for anything else as DFF,DSF I just did
these things.
in */etc/squeezeboxserver/types.conf* I altered the wvp line to
wv
Don't hurry!
What gives you ls -l /share ?
