I have a largish music collections >50 000 tracks, but i keep finding
certain artists are never listed under "Album Artists" or "All Artists"
but they do pop up in searches. It is always the artists/album artists
and never albums or songs. In other words everything by that artist is
never listed

No, i never have moved this installation - it is about 7 years old
though
I have tried 'clear and rescan' plus i flushed the cache from the
control panel.

I am sorry to raise again on this subject but I sincerely believe that
there is a bug.
I had the opportunity to do the same tests on another installation
(piCorePlayer 5 instead of a personal installation based on Raspian Lite
Buster). I get exactly the same result (with the same music files and

Other possibilities include folders with the wrong permissions so LMS
doesn't see the files when scanning, or perhaps unusual characters in
the file or folder names.
I don't think the OP says what OS they are using - that might give some
pointers.

A few days ago my squeezelite player disappeared form LMS.
LMS is on rpi4 Buster
Squeezelite is on a different rpi3b+ Buster runnig also Rhasspy 2.5
pre.
I installed a newly fresh pi only with squeezelite, with no luck - still
not recognized by LMS.
Any idea?
I have always used piCoreplayer as my OS of choice for raspberry Pi
devices, whether or not they run LMS. I have no experience with Buster,
and I haven't heard of Rhasspy.
However, the first things I'd check are whether you have more than one
LMS running on your network (maybe your missing Pi is

As a test, you could burn pCP to a spare SD card and see if that
connects up to your LMS - might reveal what's wrong with your 'real'
setup? Is squeezelite actually running? Is your LMS on the usual port?

I assume these artists are not ONLY represented in compilation albums,
with these albums showing up under only Various Artists. That is, these
"missing" artists, have full albums in your collection, with either
ARTIST or ALBUM ARTIST tags with their names. (and I agree, I would
fully check out
LMS will only "recognise" players that are on the same LAN segment as
player broadcast its presence.
Are the IP addresses of the player and the LMS on the same LAN segment
(i.e. network mask)
If they are not on the same LAN segment then squeezelite comand line
will have give IP address of LMS s

I copied over my existing iTunes library from Mojave OS to the Music app
on a new Mac mini running Catalina OS (10.15.5).
I installed LMS (7.9.3), too, and thatÂs running well.
However, I canÂt see in LMS my older playlists that are in CatalinaÂs
new Music app.

So I have 'found' the artists, they are at the very end of the 'album
artists' list on my Orange Squeeze app on my phone but not on LMS web
interface??? They dont seem to have been sorted alphabetically as the
list is. I have been through all the tags: Artist, AlbumArtist,
AlbumArtist Sort, Artis
I assume you've done a complete"clear and rescan" of your music library
(may not help, but can't hurt if something went haywire in the cache,
etc.).

I switched from squeezelite alsa version to portaudio version using the
buster desktop package manager and now it works.

I think that Port audio uses Alsa, so sits on top of it, so to speak.

If you are saying your LMS is 7 years old, definitely worth installing
LMS 7.9.3 (if not 8.0). Lots of major changes in last 7 years. See:

I have just updated and upgraded the pi I was usuing to the latest OS.
This now splits the sound cards up in Alsa.
So Analog is now AV Jack (under the Speaker Icon)

location, 2 physical SBs and one picoreplayer (which I don't use)
I hav had all along a problem with that the GUI seems to lose contact
with the server...

Michael, I did have a search before I posted and couldn't see anything.
But are you saying there's no solution?
I think there's a workaround like manually triggering the XML export or
something.
