I'd suggest you continue the discussion on that pull request. I can't
reproduce the issue lack of material, and it certainly isn't a problem
for many. But the author of the patch should have a better understanding
of what would be needed.

It doesn't seem like the issue that this patch was designed to fix
affected all SB players. For example, my dad has a SBT and is running on
LMS 7.7.5, but he has never had a problem with any loud noise when
crossfading between tracks with different sample rates. I think that it
would've been a bet
Thank you for clarifying the reason why it was disabled. Is there any
chance in the future that this can be made into an optional setting? Or
I doubt it. Why would you want to have the reported mis-behaviour?

I had originally posted my issue in the SBT forum, until I found out
that LMS 7.9 has intentionally disabled crossfading between tracks with
different sample rates. When playing a random mix, it's annoying to have
my hi-res tracks not crossfade with my regular 16/44 tracks. I went as
far as trying
