Yeah that looks like what I have.
As an aside, you mentioned further up that you have a workaround of
using library views instead, and while that works for me as well for my
long term music collection, I also have a system setup where I record
different radio streams and dump them into certain d

Here we go.
Using Browse Music Folder (BMF) I started playing an album (picture 1).
40 minutes later, the album is still playing, but the folder is now
apparently empty! (picture 2).
All the other folders/albums are apparently empty too.

Work around is to use "Library Views" instead.

Wait, well based on what you just posted kidstypike, it sounds like our
configs are similar enough :)
mherger, if you want the extra debug info from before, I'm happy to futz
with my setup to get it to you - let me know.

I think kidstypike has a different setup from me, at least in terms of
how he's running LMS. On my instance, through the web UI, hitting M

Just like to add, I've recently found that Browse Music Folder behaves
exactly the same.
If you add a music folder to LMS > Settings > Basic Settings, but don't
check the box to scan the folder, the folder appears under "Music

I had been running 7.9.2 forever on my linux debian server, but I
upgraded it recently to 8.1.1. Now, browse music folders periodically
shows folders as empty and it seems that the scan process never really
finishes/stops.
This is LMS v 8.1.1 running on Debian, with several pi clients connected

Thanks, done that but totally at sea here, probably best to leave it,
too old to be messing around with this.
Code:
tc@musicbox5:~$ cd /usr/local/slimserve
rm: remove 'Misc.pm'?
What next?
"y" as in "yes" :-)

Ok, I finally got to look into this. Here's what you'd have to do on
pCP:
Connect to your pCP using ssh. Then run the following commands:
Code:
cd /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/
rm Misc.pm
cp /tmp/tcloop/slimserver/usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/Misc.pm .

As you're able to reproduce this issue on all your systems, could you
please edit Slim/Utils/Misc.pm, the line given in the error log. Replace
logError() with logBacktrace(), and add the following two lines after it:
warn Data::Dump::dump($params);
warn Data::Dum

Not a fix but might help you achieve what you want in a different way.
Use a second Pi (pi2) installed with LMS and scan the 60,000 tracks but
only those tracks.
On pi1 (main) use the Remote Libraries feature to access pi2 tracks when
required.

Where does the data live? Is it on a remote share, or a local disk?

Is the server W10?
I think this is one of M$s recently added security features. It closes
network drive connections until they are required. The various GUIs are
being recognised as a requirement whereas file explorer is.

There's no pattern to the problem. I might not use D&F for days or
weeks. When I choose to use it, sometimes it's fine, sometimes all
drives are apparently empty.
Would this happen at the very first menu level? Eg. the drives list on

More to above.
Behavior is the same on all LMS servers I've tried (Pi4, Pi3B+, Win10).
Discs and folders works for a while then all attached/network drives
show empty, even though player(s) are playing music from alleged empty
drive.
Restarting LMS cures the problem for a while.
Code:

Pi4/pCP, latest LMS nightly, 18000+ music files on mounted SSD drive,
LMS scans the music folder on this drive.
I also have 60,000+ music files on this drive that I access through
