Hi folks,
pity that I have received no answer. So I decided a complete fresh start
(again). This time I tried it with *7.9.1~1492077569_all.deb.
The installation worked fine, but it took three or four starts before
the scan ran stable and did not break off after a few minutes.
Now, after some tw
The log file you posted previously doesn't look good: "disk I/O error"
sounds like an issue with your disk, or running out of disk space (for
the partition where the db is living). Please check the state of your
disk(s).

Hallo Michael,
thanks for your quick reply. I checked the hard disk space immediatley -
it took a while. The self-test revealed no error.
As described, the reinstallation was successful - just the scan after
the start, is running or in an endless loop - depending on how you take
it ...

This is a known issue with My Book Live devices. The partition in which
the Squeezebox cache resides is too small. You will need to change the
location of the Squeezebox cache. Look here:

The initial scan as desribed above took less than 10 h - the rescan -
even after moving the DB to a larger partition is now performing more
than two days.
So I assume that the scan engine is somehow buggy!

It's me again,

Are you sure about your CPU & RAM? If so, I'd strongly suggest not to
waste any more time, but get a Pi instead (to run LMS, keeping the files

Hi Michael,
I must disappoint you: If your thesis is correct, then the scan should
not break off with a much smaller collection - but he does it in the
usual way.
I moved some 20% of my music library to another location and set the
path there.
The scan aborts as before after about a minute.

Well, it still dies with the same disk i/o error as before. Disk failure
isn't limited to memory usage, indeed.

That's what I've done. Fortunately, I had anyway still an alternative
parallel: some time after I had put LMS 7.7. * in service, I have
additionally a volumio on a Raspberry PI put into operation to feed my
livingroom hifi.
Although I have not found any actual instructions whether volumio 2 and

I have read the recommendation to protect the SD card of the Raspi and
transfer read / write operations - the scan cache - to another medium.
How did you proceed there, do you have a few recommendations and
possibly a How-to
