Assuming you have verified that c:\ is not in your list of media sources
(Settings/Basic settings/Media folders) then perhaps you have a Windows
shortcut stored somewhere in your music folders that points to drive C
(perhaps created by mistake when trying to do a drag and drop).

I was running LMS 8.2 (and have installed 8.3 in an attempt to fix the
issue below, with no luck) ...

I think the date/time thing was a red herring. I deselected pre-caching
artwork in the Performance tab and things seems fine now.

It's a bit strange. The 01/01/1970 date is reported in the Material
skin, but the real date is reported in the default skin.
I have looked at the scanner log, which chimes with the scan choking on
finding artwork, and in particular with Spotty artwork. I'll have a
little poke around the Spotty

I have been playing around with a little LMS device based on a Raspberry
Pi Zero (piCorePlayer 6.1.0, LMS 8.0) with files stored on a portable
Seagate drive. This is all working surprisingly well, with one issue:
the 'New Music' menu item remains resolutely empty even after several
rescans,
