The regular expression \.exe$ will match request strings ending with
".exe", bit it will not match .exe?". If you want to match ".exe"
anywhere else in the string, remove the ending $ like so:

One solution is to rotate the logs more frequently.
In squid.conf, specify how many old logs to keep with the line
logfile_rotate 5
where 5 is whatever number you choose.
Then use squid's built-in log rotation with in a crontab line like this:
30 8 * * * /usr/sbin/squid -k rotate

we use squid-2.5.STABLE1 as shipped with SuSE Linux 8.2.
I want to rotate the logfiles ones a day.
Somtimes the access logfile grows over 2GByte and then squid doesn't
serve the requests anymore.
What do you think about large file support for the logfiles ?
