Its entirely possible you've just found and squished a bug! Cool!
Just throw it into the Squid Bugzilla (linked off the squid
home page - http://www.squid-cache.org/) and someone will review
and commit changes if needed.
thanks!

Hi Shailesh,
The squid icap client before start using an ICAP server sends an OPTIONS
request to this server to retrieve some information about this server
(eg if previews supported, which file types must send etc). If the
server does not respond correctly, the squid icap client will not use

Hi Christos,
Firstly, thanks so much for your prompt responses.
My ICAP server is listening on port 1344. I tried telnet to the box with
port 1344 and it works fine. Also both Squid and ICAP server
(Anti-Virus engine using ICAP protocol) sits on the same machine, but it
still persists.

OK, thanks for replying Francesco.
I'll create the second instance then.

Yes, it should work to combined both ICAP and URL rewrites.

If you fix stuff like this then please lodge a Squid Bugzilla bug entry!

You can use tcpdump (or better wireshark) to examine squid/ICAP
negotiation. Look Henriks notes about tcpdump usage here:

Maybe you can post

Dear All,
I am using RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 with
Squid 2.5STABLE12.
Every now and then a log is generated in the
/var/log/messages file stating that
Squid Parent: Child process exited due to signal 11
Now that signal 11 means memory problem I am a bit
confused about what to do.

I am answering my own question :-)
I have set "server_persistent_connections" to "off" as the comments in
the conf said that any client dependent acl will result in unexpected
behavior with server connections "on". I figured proxy_auth is client
dependent acl and hence may not work as expected wi
Hallo,
I use Squid pre3 (on SuSE 9.3) in accel mode with the config:
http_port EXTERNAL_IP:80 accel defaultsite=MY_DOMAIN.TLD

cache_peer IP-ADRESS2 parent 80 0 no-query originserver round-robin

Hi all,
I've been reading the past posts about header_replace but can't seem
to get an answer. I run squid in cache acceleration mode, I'm trying
to return a specific expiration date in the header for the images I
cache from my backend servers. As far as I Know I tried setting the

Hi,
We have a large number of SquidNT servers that are setup to cache locally, but
we also have a parent SquidNT server that all these child Squid servers are
directed to. The following squid conf line from the child squid servers.

Hello Tek Bahadur Limbu,
Thanks for reply.
Output of 'squid -v' follows:
Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE12
configure options: --enable-dlmalloc --enable-snmp
--enable-dlmalloc --enable-storeio=diskd,ufs
--enable-large-cache-files
I am running wccp in the server forgot to mention this
though.
If you're running under any reasonably recent version of FreeBSD or Linux
then please do not use dlmalloc. Just use the system malloc.
And yes, please consider upgrading to Squid-2.6.
