Thanks for the input on the Bassett Lowke. Hope you don't mind, but I
really
want to pick your brain on a few things.
What about the detail work? Is it up to today's quality standards? I'm
not
expecting "Aster quality", but am hoping for exceptionally good value for
the
money.
No it
Yes. When going very fast on the straightaway, the locos will often
"take wing" upon reaching the curve . . . BG Charles

When we used cut trees at Christmas, I would cut off the limbs and burn
them in our fireplace. The speed with which fire went from a match to
consume the entire mass of limbs and the roar of the fire helped

An interesting thing is; that the writer based the steam engine very much
on Tom Cooper's Osimotor, and he gives full credit to Tom.
However with that type of engine and belt drives etc there is going to be
quite a loss in efficiency? Or can an oscillating engine be really

To prevent taking wing while operating at top speeds I would like to rebend my
curve at the opposite end from my large trestle. Are there any tips on how to bend
each rail? Or is it simply a matter of bending the rails to lie flat then banking
the track?

I have been reading notices from the 16mmngm list. They have been talking
as of late about the Accucraft Excelsior. This appears to be an English
model. I have not heard a word from anyone about it here in the states.
Accucraft doesn't have any info posted on their website. Is Accucraft

If that is true, I believe Accucraft has made a serious marketing flaw!

Hi,
winter weather in Florida can be the pits, but even an ill wind blows some
good, etc. It was too windy to run steam today, so I decided to tinker with
the Hudson and install R/C in the steam valve. During the exploratory stage I
found that the stem of the Futaba miniature servo is tapped

I read your paragraph under the photo, it sounds like you're bending things
correctly. You definitely want the rail laying flat before you slid it into
the ties so check it on a flat surface first. I don't know what your
homemade railbender looks like, if you have doubts about it's

I just went back to look at your other pic's. That's the most impressive
trestle I've ever seen. If you've got some extra bents I've got a small
river to cross:)

Hello Everyone,
I e-mailed Trevor at The Signal Box asking for more information. With the
exception of telling me that it had a single piston valve between the frame, he
had no information available other than what's already been discussed here. He
did mention it having "semi-Walsherts" valve

I'm close enough to being finished with my Ruby Forney conversion that I feel
it's ready to share with you. I have posted a picture of the prototype at
