saves the xml, but jabberd2 (at least
with the mysql storage) stores the data in individual fields and so
ignores EXTADR.
Now I just want to make sure that EXTADD is indeed correct an I'll file
the appropriate bugs at the Psi and Gajim bugtracker.

like the idea of categorizing it differently. I'd like to hear opinions on
this front though.
I'm not 100% sure why text and irc are different though. Just 'cause? Nice
and easily identifiable? (which kind of lends to my thought on wanting a
gateway one)

/text and that
seems fair.
If you or anyone have other thoughts on this though, I'd love to hear them.

So there are two types listed. text and irc
now that they're starting to branch out from more than just IM gateways. Are
you planning on doing a draft about these concepts that I should keep an eye
out for? ;D

Yes, I think XEP-0225 will require a significant

Ignoring comments and PIs comes free with the library. So I'm not sure it's
hell. What would be hell is if you needed to quote the character outside
of attribute values.

will suggest doing both. Set activity to on the phone and
status to dnd. That's more specific than doing either independently, and
doesn't even require inventing a new type of phone which may not even add any
useful information to the other user.

On the other hand you can solve the same problem by telling some users you
support it and other users you don't. So those other users don't even get

If I'm on an audio call, I might be able to IM with you in the
background without the other person knowing. But I can't very well get
away with that on a video call. So I think the distinction provides
