II, 3, by David Scott on the Anglo-Saxon dials at Darlington and
Pittington. I have recently revisited the Pittington dial, gained
access to the inside of the church and learnt something about it

The sundial is a set of arcs with an outer diameter of 15 inches.
With the stand provided, it stands about 19 inches tall.

This book is a very useful introduction to sundials. It explains the basics
of dialling, and gives a glossary of terms. It has a full explanation of
