It's intended to sync to backup with an advskey +100 to make it automatically
the failovernode. Do you have DHCP at your interfaces? CARP and DHCP won't work
together.

I'm now running 2-5-06 snapshot and I'm still confused about carp. Either I
understand it tottaly wrong or something is seriously broken.
I have two machines and I want to have the more powerful one as carp master.
The weaker one should be taking over only when master goes down. As I

Can it be that it has something to do with the FTP helper rule to 127.0.0.1 ?
Should I also add a rule that reads from LAN -> WAN Port 21 TCP (or another port) ?

Hi !
I'm using pfSense in NAT Mode (latest Snapshot) and when switching the FTP helper on one Interface (WLAN, LAN, WAN) it crashes the firewall connections.
The pfSense is still up, but there is no chance to pass any traffic from WAN to LAN or vice versa.
Is this normal or what can be the matter
We have still some issues we want to have fixed for beta2. We don't want to
relase beta2 with these in. No exact date when beta2 will be out but there are
nearly 100 new commits since beta1 was released already.

I'm sorry, this is just a provocation.. but I've seen that more than
often Scott suggests to try his snapshot pre-release. Why don't
release it as a Beta2 version? In this way, more users are committed
to try that out!
(I obviously know that if you do not do it, it means there are few
small bugs le

You're right! I had really a syncing loop!
Now everything is working fine, inclusive unexpected power interrupting.
Thanks a lot!

Basically at the bottom of the CARP Sync tab, the slave system shouldn't have a

is only needed at the slave if you have for example
That would be possible. Can you give me hints how this configuration should

You
You only have set master to sync to slave IP, right? Or is there a chance you
are syncing slave back to master as well? If it's this way you are in a
replication loop and because of that config.xml is ALWAYS in access.

Yes, this happens on both machines.
If I disable the carp synchronisation and remove the cable between the
firewalls, then this failure doesn't happen anymore.
It seems to be a pfsync replication issue.

Are you sure your drives are ok? Maybe it's just the drive having issues in the
area where the config.xml is located. Does that happen on both machines?

You might want to try the latest snapshot
http://pfsense.com/~sullrich/1.0-BETA1-TESTING-SNAPSHOT-2-5-06/ but there
should eb no difference at least concerning tat behavior.

unless you are hitting a moment where the config.xml is just being written that
should not happen. I never had that kind of issue. I'm usually powering down my
testmachines by just disconnecting power to see if they can recover from that

Hello
I am using pfsense firewalls in failover mode with
carp and pfsync.
Everything is working fine. But when I simulate an unexpected
power interrupt the config.xml is either empty or corrupt after rebooting the
firewalls.
Then I have to fix that on site on the console.
