Please help me resolve the problem i have; pidgin cannot connect to the
local network i am connected to. i am using XMPP. It used work perfectly
well not until recently when i installed it on another pc. please help.

No there isn't.
There are a few apps out there such as Fring, Nimbuzz, and a few others.
The best app is biased on personal opinion. One limitation I've
noticed with most apps is that they only allow one of each type of
account at a time rather than multiples.

eBuddy which is good but I feel that I often miss IMs because I have
people complaining that I don't respond to their IMs, which implies that
eBuddy is not 100% successfully in delivering all IMs.

there a way when in the conf room to set an alert when someone has
posted a message in the room?
