Thanks for the help. I am connecting though my office network and my
coworkers using Pidgin seem to be having the same issue. I will contact
our IT dept to see if anything changed.

That sentence doesn't make sense. Replace "isn't able to" with "is trying to"

This entire email is wrong. I mean, aside from the not wanting to use
Google any more, that may be correct, but it's an opinion.

The issue is google's tracking ability. Pidgin doesn't allow google to
track you because you aren't logged into google directly. Chat providers

My gchat account will no longer connect though Pidgin. I keep getting the
"Unable to connect" message. I have tried deleting the account and
creating a new one but that did not resolve the issue.I also re installed
Pidgin but that did not fix the issue either.
