How to configure this function? I know that audible alerts can be enabled
when "buddy logs in" but I rather wanna set it to specific person. Is this
currently possible?

When I did a recent upgrade on my linux system, Pidgin's sound stopped

When a chat window/tab for a user is open, Options -- Enable Sounds
might do it.
When I contact somebody and they respond I receive a sound..
When somebody contacts me first, I do not receive a sound..

Message received begins conversation is a specific type of sound
that can be configured in Preferences -- Sounds. Is it possible that
you have disabled this sound?

I am trying to change a default sound in Pidgin.
Running Windows 7, Pidgin 2.10.9
I went to Tools Preferences Sounds
Enable sounds is set to Always
Sound Event Message received begins conversation is checked on.
I want to change the sound for this event.
I put my preferred sound
Tools / Preferences
On left side click on 'Sounds' tab. Make sure you have not checked 'Mute
sounds'!
In the list 'Sound events', select which sounds you want to be active.

I have Pidgin installed in my website with Subiz.com.
Everytime I open a page it makes a sound, which I don't care, but I don't want
to my clients, particularly the new ones, the sound must be annoying.
Do they listen it? if so, how could I put it off pleasee?

Hi, can anybody kindly tell me how to set pidgin to produce a sound
when a buddy sends me a file and requests me to accept it? (Usually
there should be a pop-up window asking me if I want to accept that

I'm running vista 64 bit on two machines. Pidgin works fine on one but on
the other i have no sound. I have checked and rechecked to make sure that
sounds is enabled and muting is off. I uninstalled and reinstalled but still
have the same problem.

I've been using Pidgin 2.5.1 on OpenSuSE 11.1 quite successfully for a while
now, but recently noticed a problem when configuring the sounds in the Config
menu.
If I click on any of the sound events (Buddy Enters Room, etc.) and then click
on Preview, the entire program locks up, and I have
it.
Are the sound events under Tools-Preference-Sounds enabled? Is Mute Sound
checked?

message. I go to the option to upload sound, hit browse, select the wave
file, even test the sound, but the sound does not upload. There is only a
browse and open feature. I'm running Win XP.

I'm having a problem on version 2.5.4. I have it running on Widows XP
and also Ubuntu Intrepid ver. 8.10. I have the same problem on both
systems. I installed Pidgin. The Default Sounds worked OK at first. I
