No sound with apulse installed - SM 2.53.1

Running Puppy Linux 8 (Bionic) with both ALSA and APULSE installed but still no sound in the browser. Interestingly, Waterfox 2020.02 has sound. I raelly don't want to install the bloated pulseadio in all it's glorious entirety on my tiny pupany ideas welcomed. Thanks ___
