I had similar issue, i had to trun off spell check from desktop. the other
issue was grammerly extension, this caused spinning /hourglass. youlll want to
turn off and form filling extensions

what worked for me is the following:
1 installed multizilla add on. this has a 'java '/script errors window
2 when starting up seamonkey, I immediately opened the error -java
console in multizilla
3 the extensions that gave the error in my case was : google redesign
