as far as i understand it, the following should happen.
-there is no fill attribute in the path, so it will inherit from the
sorounding g element.(the path will be grey)
-in the moment the animation begins, the fill of the path is set to
white and animates over time to black.

ive just tested your file, with a small difference: i set the begin of
the animation to 2s.
now loading the file , the path will be grey(inheritance)
after 2s ( begin of your animation) it will jump to a black fill (
because there is an animation now, that overwrites the inherited value)

The animation I use is an additive=sum, so it should use the
underlying as a start and add it to the from value.
So from my understanding, it shouldn't jump from grey to black, it
should start from grey =rgb(0,0,0) the from value + rgb
(128,128,128) the inherited one.

you are absolutly right. seems like ASV does not define an addition for
SVGColor values.
