Would seem to me that if we are talking about a performance that should be
confined to an event or days worth of competition ... And in that regard,
while I have never been a big Carl Lewis fan, his 100/LJ competition in
Tokyo (9.86 WR and best LJ series ever) should rate as #1 !!! The LJ itself

My mistake, thanks for correcting me. I had the idea right, just the

I agree totally with Bruce. The Armory is the ideal

Joe D's 56 game hitting streak is the most overrated of all sports records.
Somebody who had two 28 game hitting streaks in the same 57 games with a
hitless game in the middle instead of the end had the same value to his
team. I believe Joe's average for the hitting streak was about .420 or .430

A quick glance at the world records/bests provides little evidence that the
men versus women gap is significantly closer over the marathon than other
championship distances. In fact, Ndereba's time compares far less favorably
with the men's record than Florence Griffith-Joyner's 100m record stacks

It's not on the site so I'm just quoting an excerpt. One Jere Longman's

The media poll was regarding the "greatest individual sports performance"
and not the greatest individual sports career. I think Lewis has a strong
claim to that over Owens, however in terms of an individual sports

I think the issue of contention here as Christopher points out is individual
