Don, when I experience this issue, I do the ctrl + bacslash turn off
the speech and then simply restart it by pressing the CTRL+ALT+W
to restart the speech and it works for me about 95 percent of the

First, turning off Read first 24 lines in browse mode has nothing to do
with your problem. You're only in browse mode when reading messages. The
problem there is with the automatic reading being interrupted. And the
solution was to turn off everything else other than Read first 24 lines.
