I updated the rendering to show all villages, towns and cities and now the map
is a lot more cluttered to the point of too much clutter, I think I'll make
villages render at a higher zoom, not sure about towns.

Actually there was no state place tag for Queensland, I've added one since, and
the tiles will update sooner or later.
I also moved the ACT tag, it was going over the top of Canberra, also Canberra
was being hidden by Queenby

move the coral sea islands ;-)

I've tweaked a few more things, the state names show at the same zoom level as
the state capitals, although Queensland isn't showing, most likely because the
place node is too close to the coral sea islands place node.

Thanks, weekly is very useful anyway.
I've just returned from a mapping trip, that used your navit map on my car
computer - it was
very useful for finding missed streets

I forgot to mention, I saw this in a SoTM09 video the other day, it was only
shown briefly in a video focusing on using javascript to render vectors, but
there is a spreadsheet util to make it easier to edit mapnik style sheets.

It's too much of a hassle to do daily files, but I'm setting up scripts to run
after lunchtime on Sundays at present, the Aussie file is up, and the NZ one is
still being produced.

My local council has just published a street directory, advertised as "more
local than your GPS"
I've found the first mistake already
I'm sure the people down the road will be pleased to find their place of

Hi,
As an FYI, in case anyone gets caught out like I did ;-(
I was mapping out near Macquarie Feilds today and came across quite a few
streets
without street names, but then noticed that the street names were on signs
that were
bolted to the curb, so I had to go back and redo the survey.

Thanks for making that explicit, I just put a short "All images and text from
OpenStreetMap CC-BY-SA 2.0" at the bottom along with the cc-by-sa image.

I've been tweaking things on the mapserver I'm currently running.

State borders now show at an appropriate zoom level, and I've made it so a
picnic table icon shows, but the image I'm using atm needs changing so it looks
awful at present.

Just a minor note: The tracks in the Glenrock State Recreation Area are closed
to public vehicles so it's more accurate to mention that link in relation to
bushwalking and MTB riding than 4WD'ing. Oh, and they're more "detailed" than
"accurate". It's a shame that the "shortlink" links are so cry

I've drawn some near Gympie I've been on, and there is a fair few going west
but nothing near Nambour.

Are there any 4WD areas in your region which have more detail in OSM than on
Gmaps or Government drawn maps?
Although it's in NSW, the Glenrock State Recreation Area is an excellent
example of what's possible with OSM: all the illegal/unofficial trails are
marked in and appear on no other map.
Probably needs to include something 4wd specific about how they can map out
their favourite trails and easily share accurate maps of them with all their
friends.

Thanks for sharing the link John. It's amazing to see a visual
representation of the work done in OSM. I use the ITO site to keep an eye
one areas I regularly map.
Can anyone spot any of their own edits?
