I've had a few of these as well (different names to the ones mentioned). In the one example that I got to before the user was deleted, the profile had a link that claimed to be to a porn site. If anyone sees any of these, the best thing to do is to click the "report user" button in the user

If user is not existing then its spam profile was likely deleted. Is this possibility mentioned at page of deleted user? If not - can  you link it? Maybe it can be improved and mention that deleting user is common reason for spam accounts. In general, in such case I would go to an user profile

Bit of a weird thing to ask about ... Open up the e-mail this morning & there's an OSM message (which certainly appears legit?) to say that "this person" has added me as a friend. That's nice, but it appears to be a real name that I don't know, & when I go to look at their user page, it says
