these ways from OSM and then import them into OHM? Or is there a better way
or some other solution?

I'm planning to import all the addressed buildings in Indianapolis into OSM.
Others have done similar things in other places. I have an advantage, in
that I have access to Indianapolis' GIS data, so the building outlines are
already created. The addresses are attached to the buildings too. So I
I noticed that tracks (leisure - track) are still being rendered as
polygons instead of linear features, despite this having been reported as a
bug on Github.

What happened to the USGS topographic map imagery that was available in JOSM
until a few days ago?
