So that's what wrong with me - too much electric guitar influence
foggin' up my right hand technique.
Damn Beatles Anyway!
I think Tater hit it out of the park with the comment regarding
influences and essentially
getting hardwired to a certain soundscape (is that a word?), anyway,
so much of
the beer almost came out of my nose!

Glad it came off.
The other thing I was going to suggest is just turn the amp up real
loud so that it distorts, and maybe stomp on a bunch of effects when
it's time for the solo -- a compressor, a Space Echo, maybe a wah-wah
-- and you'll hardly have to play any actual notes.
No, wait...
That's

Whatever you do, your accesibility is priceless. If I ever had the time or
energy to sit down with a Monroe tune, I know that I could bounce some
things off of you and get an informed and entertaining answer. I think that

I have thought about it, but not much and not often, at least not

Valerie,
The conference recorder that Vinnie brought up is really easy to
use(one big red button) and it stores the videos in a seperate folder
so they're easy to find. I got the link for this from somebody a long
time ago. Sorry I didn't think about it earlier. I don't recall, but I

Well I played the tune on stage today, and it went pretty well I

I can record it for y'all sometime.
Thanks for all the help!

Starting with the melody is wise.
Playing it, or part of it, up or down an octave provides some
variation and sometimes opens up new possibilities. Experiment with
places you can add drone strings and double stops to fatten up the
sound. If you get a second time around on the tune -- or sometimes
conference recorder!

iChat & Conference recorder (link above) work great for me. I have an
iSight camera I'm not using anymore if anybody is interested. (My new
MacBook has a camera built in.)

Do you not have iChat? I think that would work for this?

I've been using a plug-in to iChat called Conference Recorder (

I mentioned I think in email to tater I can not capture any of the
video and have to rely on the seive that is on top of my shoulders to
carry the info... Wow what demand! I am pretty sure I'll get the kick
of to Roanoke like Mr. Tater before I could begin to remember all the
stuff packed in one
I'm hoping some techno whiz in this group can offer some advice on
videoing via a Mac Powerbook, especially screen capture (all the
better to capture Tater lessons). The quality I get with SnapZ is not
great, and the videos are really difficult to negotiate, which is
likely a QuickTime problem, bu
