Also I think with Yank being "up on the down stroke" so to speak he
would emphasis different chord tones by hitting thin string first.
Yank tuned so his when he played a G chord it was really Ebeing
that playing blues in E ain't the easiest thing on mandolin is that
cheating ? :)

Oh boy, I love that recording! Sometimes I find it easier to play in
all upstrokes than all downstrokes. I still have a hard time doing
either unless I am really loosened up and locked in.
