the exact same spot.
How do I get rid of it for good? Killing tbuser.def is nothing I want
to do every day.

I had just installed v4.0.28.3 when the problems started. Of course,
the latter may be because I had never started the Customizer before.
There had never been any need to until now.
The machine is running Windows XP.

This morning instead of deleting the line from the search toolbar I
disabled the search toolbar as a whole. So far, the flying input
line has not reappeared.
It's always safe to backup tbuser.def before fiddling with Customise.
