(I hope I've formatted this message correctly. Last time I asked for
help I got thumped for not formatting the message just so. Thus I have
been reluctant to ask for help.
Don't be afraid to ask for help - and we have all been thumped at one
time or another - they don't hit very hard :)

Maybe the new owner of the ISP has a different policy about relaying
email, or about what settings are required (port numbers,
authentication, etc.) - is there any help with email settings on their
customer website?
Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but this is not the ISP's e-mail. As far as
